Social Network Visualization Tools

Gephi Gephi is an open source platform which aims to explore graphs and complex systems like you manipulate images in Photoshop. This is currently the fastest graph visualization engine in open source, and provide an interactive way to handle networks, apply layouts and metrics, filter data and see the dynamics. NameGen 4 - SNS Edition NameGen 4 is a tool for collecting, analyzing and interacting with ego-centered networks. Using NameGen, you can download, analyze, sort, query, visualize and export social networks downloaded from social network sites. (The program currently supports Facebook, future versions will support Twitter and others).

NodeXL is the network overview, discovery and exploration add-in for Excel 2007, a free and open social network analysis and visualization extension to the familiar spreadsheet. NodeXL contains multiple social media network import "spigots" to create networks from Twitter, personal email, flickr, and other data sets in matrix, csv, GraphML, Pajek, and UCINet formats. A tutorial guide to social network analysis and NodeXL is available from the University of Maryland, College of Information Science, Center for the Advanced Study of Communities and Information.

The Virtual Observatory for the Study of Online Networks (VOSON). web-based software for the collection and analysis of online network data; incorporates web mining, data visualisation, and social network analysis (SNA). VOSON-sns - a Drupal module for collecting and analysing SNA data from a Drupal social network site. To be released early in 2010. VOSON NodeXL Data Provider - a plugin for NodeXL (Network Overview, Discovery and Exploration for Excel), which is a template for Excel 2007. The VOSON NodeXL Data Provider plugin allows VOSON account holders users to access VOSON System functionality (data collection and processing) from within NodeXL.
